ER ÓÞÆGILEGT AÐ HORFA Á ÞESSAR MYNDIR?

Auðvitað þykir öllum óþægilegt að horfa á þessar myndir. Og enn óþægilegri er tilhugsunin um að þetta skuli vera að gerast að öllum heiminum ásjáandi – og hinum aðgerðarlausa hluta hans samsekum.
Og ekki bætir úr skák að bandalagsþjóðir Íslands skuli fram á þennan dag vera að senda fangavörðunum í þessu Auschwitz samtímans vopn til manndrápa.

Mótmæli fara vaxandi um heiminn allan. Framarlega standa gyðingar sem andæfa ofbeldinu og einnig því að reynt sé að verja ofbeldið með því að segja alla gagnrýni, öll mótmæli gegn böðlunum stjórnast af andúð á gyðingum! Það er apartheid-zíonismi sem er gagnrýndur, það eru morðingjarnir sem eru gagnrýndir og svívirðilegur glæpur í sjálfu sér að reyna að gera saklaust fólk af gyðinglegum uppruna samsekt og stuðla þar með að kynþáttafordómum.

Enn er verið að fangelsa fólk í NATÓ ríkjunum fyrir að taka upp hanskann fyrir fórnarlömbin á Gaza. Þeir megi segja eitt en ekki annað. Sjálfur þekki ég fjöldann allan af fólki sem hefur verið fangelsað fyrir slíkt andóf. Margir þeirra eru gyðingar.

En nú er svo komið að mótmælin eru að verða slík að við þau verði ekki ráðið með lögregluaðgerðum. Slóvenar segjast ætla að hætta að senda vopn til Ísrael. Þetta þykir stórfrétt! Og er stórfrétt. En er það ekki stórfrétt að þetta skuli talin vera stórfrétt.

Og einnig hitt að nokkrir forsætisráðherrar í NATÓ ríkjum segja að til standi að viðurkenna ríki Palestínumanna. Auðvitað er það líka stórfrétt og þá einnig hitt að það skuli þykja vera stórfrétt eða hver var hugmyndin að baki skiptingu Palestínu árið 1948. NATÓ ríkin stóðu að þeirri skiptingu á Palestínu í tvö ríki. Var það ekki meiningin. Síðan hafa sömu ríki horft þegjandi á Ísrael sölsa undir sig sífellt stærra svæði af landi Palestínumanna. Hvaða Palestínu ætla þeir Starmer og Macron að viðurkenna?

Mér þóttu hugleiðingar Gunnars Smára Egilssonar á samfélagsmiðli um viðurkenningu á sjálfstæði Palestínu góðar og birti þær hér (án hans leyfis en vonandi ekki í óþökk hans):

„Þegar löndin í kringum okkur hafa loks viðurkennt Palestínu sem sjálfstætt ríki þurfa þau að skilgreina landamæri þess ríkis. Og næsta skref væri að skilyrða viðurkenningu á Ísrael við tiltekin landamæri. Það er ekki hægt að viðurkenna Palestínu sem hugmynd um eitthvað sem ekkert er, hertekið land undir linnulausum árásum, land þar sem fram fer þjóðarmorð. Viðurkenning á þjóð sem hefur engan rétt og ekkert skjól er marklaus. Og það er heldur ekki hægt að viðurkenna Ísrael, ekki sem land með tiltekin landamæri heldur sem hugmynd zionista um heilaga skyldu Ísrael til að leita sífellt að meira Lebensraum fyrir gyðinga með hernaði gegn næstu löndum. Og áætlunum um að drepa eða hrekja burt palestínsku þjóðina af landinu sem er stolið. Ísrael er land sem skilgreinir alla ógn við þessar fyrirætlanir sem ógn við tilvist sína, þau sem andmæla landráni og þjóðarmorði eru ógn við tilvist Ísraels. Það er sturlun að viðurkenna slíkt ríki og rétt þess til að verja sig út frá eigin glæpsamlegu hugmyndum. Þegar landamæri Palestínu hafa verið viðurkennd og einnig landamæri Ísrael er það skylda þeirra ríkja sem hafa viðurkennt Palestínu að hrekja ísraelska herinn burt úr Palestínu og handtaka þau sem bera ábyrgð á þjóðarmorðinu. Mér þætti við hæfi að réttarhöld stríðsglæpadómstólsins í því máli færu fram í Nürnberg í Þýskalandi.“

Þrátt fyrir allt þetta er gott að Slóvenía hætti að senda vopn til Ísraels og þrátt fyrir allt er gott að NATÓ ríki viðurkenni þó ekki sé nema hugmynd að sjálfstæðri Palestínu og það óháð því hvað menn telja framtíðina bera í skauti sér, sameiningu eða afnám þessara ríkja. Síðari kosturinn væri í anda hugmynda Kúrdaforingjans Abdullah Öcalan sem talar fyrir því sem kallast á ensku democratic confederalism, lýðræðissamband.

Að lokum. Ég hvet fólk til að veita fórnarlömbum á Gaza stuðning:

Protests are growing all over the world. At the forefront are indeed Palestinians but also Jews who are not only appalled by the atrocities but also furious when the perpetrator tries to make them complicit by saying that criticism of Israel is based on anti-semetism.

The protests are by no means directed at Jewish people, but at aggressive apphartheit Zionism and the war criminals responsible for genocide; responsible for the pictures above and below. It is the murderers who are being criticized and it is a heinous crime in itself to try to make innocent people complicit. This incites racism and is despicable.

People are still being imprisoned in NATO countries for siding with the victims in Gaza. If they dare criticize Israel on non-acceptable premises they are silenced by force. I myself know many individuals who have been imprisoned for such dissent. Many of them are Jewish.

But now the protests are becoming such that they cannot be dealt with by police batons and harassment. Slovenia says it will stop sending weapons to Israel. This is considered big news! And it is big news!! But isn't it big news that this should be considered big news?

And now several prime ministers in NATO countries say that their governments will soon recognize a Palestinian state. Of course, this also is big news and then again that it should be seen to be big news is noteworthy because this was indeed what was promised by these states with the partition of Palestine in 1948. The NATO countries were behind the partition of Palestine into two states. Wasn't that the intention? That there should be Israel and there should be Palestine? Since then, the same countries have silently watched Israel grab most of what was intended to be Palestine. What Palestine are Starmer and Macron going to recognize?

I thought Gunnar Smári Egilsson's reflections on social media were good and I publish them here (without his permission but hopefully not with his disapproval):

“When the countries around us have finally recognized Palestine as an independent state, they need to define the borders of that state. And the next step would be to condition the recognition of Israel on specific borders. It is not possible to recognize Palestine as an idea of something that is nothing, an occupied land under relentless attacks, a land where genocide is being committed. Recognition of a people that has no rights and no shelter is meaningless. And it is also not possible to recognize Israel, not as a country with specific borders but as the Zionist idea of Israel's sacred duty to constantly seek more Lebensraum for the Jews through warfare against neighbouring countries. And plans to kill or drive the Palestinian people out of the stolen land. Israel is a country that defines any threat to these intentions as a threat to its existence, those that oppose land grabbing and genocide are a threat to the existence of Israel. It is madness to recognize such a state and its right to defend itself based on its own criminal ideas. Once the borders of Palestine have been recognized and also the borders of Israel, it is the duty of those states that have recognized Palestine to drive the Israeli army out of Palestine and arrest those responsible for the genocide. I would think it appropriate that the war crimes trial in that case be held in Nuremberg, Germany.”

Despite all this, it is good that Slovenia stops sending weapons to Israel and despite everything, it is good that NATO states recognize even the idea of an independent Palestine, regardless of where the region will develop in the future, whether it be unification or the abolition of these states. Here it might be helpful toI look to the ideas of Kurdish leader Abdullah Öcalan who advocates what is called democratic confederalism.

Finally. I urge people to support the victims in Gaza:
